Argentine Primera BTTS by Club: 32 Teams Ranked
Argentina is a BTTS No league at heart. I ranked all 32 clubs with 150+ Primera matches to see where both teams scoring holds up and where it collapses.

Argentine football has a reputation for passion, noise and chaos, so people assume goals at both ends. The records say otherwise. Across 5,330 Primera matches from 2012 to 2024, both teams scored in 45.3%, a fair BTTS Yes price of 2.21. That makes No the default here, so the real question is which clubs pull away from that baseline.
The headline answer: the spread between clubs is wide but not huge. Atlético Rafaela sit top at 52.3% and Argentinos Juniors bottom at 39.7%, a gap of 12.6 percentage points. When I want the match-by-match view, my today's BTTS predictions page is where these long-run club rates get weighed against a specific fixture, because a club average is only a starting point.
Chapter 1Only a handful of clubs push BTTS past half
This chart lists the twelve clubs with the highest BTTS rates, with matches played beside each name. Atlético Rafaela lead at 52.3% from 172 matches, but the more convincing name to me is Rosario Central at 52.1% from 374 matches, a fair Yes price of 1.92. A big sample at that level is not a fluke run.
San Martín San Juan at 50.9% and Tigre at exactly 50% complete the group at or above even money. River Plate, at 48.8%, are the only giant in the upper reaches, which fits a side that attacks a lot and still leaks the odd goal.
League average 45.3%. Number after each club = matches played.

| Share of each club's matches where both teams scored, 150+ matches | |
|---|---|
| Atlético Rafaela · 172 | 52.3% |
| Rosario Central · 374 | 52.1% |
| San Martín San Juan · 167 | 50.9% |
| Tigre · 340 | 50.0% |
| Lanús · 412 | 49.3% |
| River Plate · 414 | 48.8% |
| Atlético Tucumán · 283 | 48.4% |
| Talleres · 268 | 47.8% |
| Godoy Cruz · 411 | 47.4% |
| Defensa y Justicia · 334 | 47.0% |
| Platense · 154 | 46.8% |
| Racing Club · 417 | 46.5% |
What strikes me is how quickly the list sinks back towards the league average. By Racing Club in twelfth place we are at 46.5%, barely above 45.3%. Even the BTTS-friendly end of Argentina would count as ordinary in plenty of European leagues, so I treat Yes prices on these clubs with suspicion unless they sit well above the fair line.
Chapter 2Argentinos Juniors and Newell's are the BTTS No clubs
Flip the table and the picture gets sharper. Argentinos Juniors at 39.7% from 363 matches and Newell's Old Boys at 39.8% from 410 matches sit clearly below everyone else, and both samples are large. For Argentinos that works out to a fair BTTS No price of 1.66.
Gimnasia La Plata at 41.2% and Vélez Sarsfield at 42.7% are the other names I notice, because both have played a lot of Primera football. Olimpo, Aldosivi and Sarmiento cluster around 41.7% to 41.9%, but on smaller samples.

| Lowest first, clubs with 150+ matches | |
|---|---|
| Argentinos Juniors · 363 | 39.7% |
| Newell's Old Boys · 410 | 39.8% |
| Gimnasia La Plata · 374 | 41.2% |
| Olimpo · 163 | 41.7% |
| Aldosivi · 218 | 41.7% |
| Sarmiento · 227 | 41.9% |
| Patronato · 211 | 42.7% |
| Vélez Sarsfield · 415 | 42.7% |
| Central Córdoba · 185 | 43.2% |
| Huracán · 313 | 43.5% |
| Belgrano · 299 | 43.5% |
| San Lorenzo · 409 | 43.8% |
There is a pattern worth keeping in mind. Several of these sides spent long spells as compact, low-scoring mid-table or survival teams, and that style suppresses goals at both ends. A low club rate tells you a lot about the shape of their matches, not just their attack.
Chapter 3River's clean sheets drag their BTTS No outcomes upwards
This stacked chart splits each of the big five's matches into four ways BTTS can settle: both scored, club won to nil, club lost to nil, or 0-0. It matters because BTTS No can land for completely different reasons. River Plate win to nil in 30.9% of matches and lose to nil in only 11.4%, so their No outcomes come mostly from dominance.
Independiente and San Lorenzo look very different. Independiente fail to score while conceding in 18.9% of matches, and San Lorenzo finish 0-0 in 13.9%, the highest share of the five. Their No outcomes come from blunt attacks and tight, scrappy games.
"Won to nil" = club scored and kept a clean sheet; "lost to nil" = club failed to score but conceded.

| BTTS yes | Club won to nil | Club lost to nil | 0-0 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boca Juniors | 45.6% | 28.3% | 15.3% | 10.8% |
| River Plate | 48.8% | 30.9% | 11.4% | 8.9% |
| Racing Club | 46.5% | 27.6% | 16.5% | 9.4% |
| Independiente | 44.5% | 24.8% | 18.9% | 11.7% |
| San Lorenzo | 43.8% | 25.2% | 17.1% | 13.9% |
For a bettor this changes the read. A No on River rests on them keeping the opponent out; a No on San Lorenzo often rests on nobody scoring at all. Boca Juniors, at 45.6% BTTS with 28.3% won to nil, sit almost exactly on the league average, so I'd never assume a Boca match carries extra goals at both ends.
Chapter 4Lanús, Racing and Estudiantes see more BTTS away from home
The dumbbell compares each of the ten most-played clubs at home and away. The standout is Lanús: 44.9% at home but 53.6% away, the biggest gap in the group. Racing Club, at 43.8% home against 49.3% away, and Estudiantes, at 41.7% against 47.6%, follow the same direction.
In total, 4 of these 10 clubs saw both teams score more often on the road, with Newell's the fourth, at 37.1% home and 42.4% away. My reading is that these sides control games at home, then open up when pushed away from it. Vélez and San Lorenzo, by contrast, barely move between home and away.

| Home | Away | |
|---|---|---|
| Boca Juniors (211 home · 206 away) | 46.9% | 44.2% |

| Estudiantes (211 home · 206 away) | 41.7% | 47.6% |
| Vélez Sarsfield (206 home · 209 away) | 42.7% | 42.6% |
| River Plate (207 home · 207 away) | 49.3% | 48.3% |
| Lanús (205 home · 207 away) | 44.9% | 53.6% |
| Godoy Cruz (205 home · 206 away) | 48.3% | 46.6% |
| Newell's Old Boys (205 home · 205 away) | 37.1% | 42.4% |
| San Lorenzo (208 home · 201 away) | 43.8% | 43.8% |
| Independiente (188 home · 187 away) | 46.8% | 42.2% |
My one big caveat: clubs were in the top flight for different seasons, so each rate covers different years, opponents and formats. Treat these splits as tendencies, not fixed traits, and check whether a squad still resembles the one that built the number.
Before you bet in this league
- Start from BTTS NoBoth teams scored in only 45.3% of Primera matches, a fair Yes price of 2.21. A Yes price shorter than that needs a specific reason, not a reputation for chaotic football.
- Trust the big samplesRosario Central at 52.1% from 374 matches and Argentinos Juniors at 39.7% from 363 carry more weight than smaller-sample clubs. Compare any price with their fair lines of 1.92 for Yes and 1.66 for No respectively.
- Check the venue splitLanús moved from 44.9% at home to 53.6% away, and Newell's from 37.1% to 42.4%. Use the venue figure, not the club average, when comparing a price for these sides.
