Liga MX BTTS by Club: Both Teams to Score Rates for 16 Teams

Sixteen Liga MX clubs ranked by how often both teams scored, then split into scoring and conceding to show which half of BTTS actually drives each club's rate.

Liga MX has a reputation as an open league, and the headline number backs that up. Both teams scored in 54.8% of 4,080 matches from 2012–2024, which works out to fair BTTS Yes odds of 1.82. I build my BTTS betting tips page on files like this one, so the question I wanted answered was narrower: which clubs push that rate up or down, and why.

The short answer is that the spread between clubs is real but not huge. It runs from Monarcas Morelia at 61.5% down to Tigres at 49.1%. Almost every club scores often, so the clubs that sit at the bottom are there because they stop the other side. When I'm weighing a Liga MX BTTS price, the opponent's defence tells me more than its attack.

Chapter 1Morelia top the Liga MX BTTS table and Tigres prop it up

This chart ranks the 16 clubs with at least 280 matches. Monarcas Morelia lead at 61.5% from 286 matches, with Santos Laguna (60.0%) and Toluca (58.9%) close behind. At the other end Tigres are the only club below half, at 49.1% from 493 matches, with Atlas next on 52.2%.

Most of the table is bunched within a few points of the 54.8% league rate. That matters for pricing. Only the clubs near either edge give me a club-level reason to move away from the league baseline.

One caveat runs through all of this. Clubs played different numbers of tournaments, relocated clubs such as Monarcas Morelia and Mazatlán are kept separate, and the records stop in October 2024. These are historical frequencies across many squads and managers, not a forecast of any single match.

Chapter 2Conceding, not scoring, separates the high and low BTTS clubs

BTTS needs both halves, so this table splits each club's matches into scored and conceded. Scoring rates are high everywhere, from Atlas at 68.9% up to América at 81.5%. Conceding varies more, and that is where the BTTS ranking comes from.

Compare Tigres and Morelia. Their scoring rates are almost identical, 76.5% and 77.6%, yet Tigres conceded in only 62.7% of matches against Morelia's 78.3%. América tell the same story: the best attack in the table, but a 64.1% conceding rate holds them to 53.5% BTTS.

Puebla are the reverse case. They conceded in 78.6% of their matches, the highest in the table, and that alone carries them to 55.9% despite a modest 71.0% scoring rate.

Chapter 3Tigres are the one club with a real home split

For the ten most-played clubs, I compared home and away BTTS. Tigres show the biggest gap: 52.8% at home from 248 matches against 45.3% away from 245. On the road they have been one of the tightest sides in the league.

Several big clubs lean the other way. América sit at 50.2% at home and 56.7% away, and Santos Laguna rise from 57.9% at home to 62.2% away. Cruz Azul are almost flat at 52.2% and 52.4%.

My reading is that the strongest home sides tend to keep visitors out, then open up more when they travel. I wouldn't treat any of these splits as fixed, but they are worth checking before backing BTTS at a single club-wide figure.

Chapter 4Big-four matches land BTTS slightly less often than the rest

The last chart tracks matches involving América, Chivas, Cruz Azul or Pumas against everything else, year by year. Across all years the big-four games produced BTTS in 53.4% of 1,686 matches, against 55.7% of 2,394 without one.

The yearly lines cross and swap places, so the gap isn't steady. In some years the big-four games ran higher, and in others the rest of the league pulled clearly ahead. Over the full sample, though, the big names come in a touch below the league rate.

For me this undercuts the idea that marquee matches in Mexico mean goals at both ends. Big-club fixtures draw the most attention, but the numbers give no reason to expect extra BTTS.

Before you bet in these leagues

  1. Start from the baselineBoth teams scored in 54.8% of Liga MX matches, fair odds 1.82. Use that as your reference before any club adjustment, because most clubs sit close to it.
  2. Check the defence firstScoring rates run from 68.9% to 81.5%, so the opponent's attack rarely decides the bet. Low conceders such as Tigres (62.7%) and América (64.1%) are what pull BTTS down.
  3. Tigres away is differentTigres produced BTTS in just 45.3% of away matches against 52.8% at home. Treat a club-wide rate with caution when one side has a split that large.
